Tying a Belt

Believe it or not, there are many people who are confused on how to tie a karate belt properly. This video hopes to clear up any doubts you may have.

To recap how to tie your belt correctly

  1. Hold the belt out in front of you
  2. Hold it in the centre leaving two equal lengths
  3. Wrap it round your waist leaving until your hands meet behind your back
  4. Switch hand so you bring both strands of belt to the front
  5. Use one hand to hold these strands in place, another to reach to the belt below your spine and align the to overlapping strands to neaten up the look of the knot
  6. Tie these strands below your stomach in a loose knot
  7. Tie the strands again in a loose knot using opposite stands compared with the first knot
  8. Tighten or loosen until comfortable with the belt
